Quick News: TP’s Knee & Charitable Activities

  • Ever since his surgery, Terrelle has been adamant that his knee is fine. Well, just a couple of weeks ahead of camp, he’s giving yet another update on the health of his knee.

“It was minor surgery. It’s never going to be 100 percent ever again for anybody who gets any type of surgery or anything like that. But you should definitely bounce back and be a high percentage and keep going. That’s where I am right now, I feel pretty good.”

And that’s good news for us Buckeye fans!

  • I’d like to take a second to talk about some of the good TP, and his teammates, have been doing. We always hear (usually via ESPN) when they mess up, but the national media is nowhere to be found when these fine student athletes are out making a difference.

Well, this week, Coach Tressel, the staff, and players welcomed The Weinland Park Dawgs to the WHAC for a tour and some words to live by; delivered by JT himself. The Buckeyes took time to meet with the young players from inner city areas of Columbus.

    Watch a short video below:

  • Lastly, here’s a bit of irony.

Wasn’t it just last week when the national media were complaining about how TP wouldn’t be among the OSU players headed to the Kickoff Luncheon and Big Ten Media Days? Yea, I think it was.

Funny, how that hasn’t hurt CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd, who has a few words from Terrelle and Coach Tressel in one of his recent columns about The Fall of Troy. Looks like you can get access to T. Pryor if you actually have a story idea, rather than just wanting to listen to him speak, in hopes he says something incriminating. There’s a difference and Tressel knows it.

Tweets Is Watching: LeBron Shouts Out TP, Takes It Back

It’s a slow time, and this is from a couple of days ago, but I couldn’t resist!

So around midnight Monday, LeBron James posts the following tweet for our entertainment.

LeBron is still a TP fan

Now, Bron Bron deleted this tweet within a couple of hours, but not before the Twitterverse went in on it!

Here’s a sampling of reactions to said tweet:

Bandwagon Miami Heat Fan: Ummm, you’re in Miami now. Shouldn’t you be playing with Da U?

Pissed off Cavs Fan: You’re not allowed to root for Ohio State after what you did! Find a new team to root for!

Delusional Michigan Fan: Doesn’t matter. Michigan will roll the Suckeyes this year!!eleventy!!11

These aren’t direct quotes, but a lot of the @replies to his tweet were along these lines and it gave me quite a bit of entertainment reading them the other night! He probably wasn’t expecting that much of a reaction, hence why he deleted it after only a couple of hours.

It was funny to me that the Miami fans that don’t know anything about LeBron (except that he now plays for the Heat) don’t realize that LBJ is more than just a ‘fan’ of TP. He’s TP’s mentor. They know each other. They talk. TP looks up to him and has publicly supported his decision to play for the Heat. I don’t think LeBron being in Miami means he’s suddenly going to call up Randy Shannon and ask to be BFF’s with Jacory Harris, but stranger things have happened.

Interesting situation, though. But what about this: Should LeBron attend either of the Ohio State/Miami games these next 2 seasons, whose sideline do you think he’ll be on? Just stirring the pot a little, Buckeye fans.

Meanwhile, TP has rejoined Twitter and has yet to return to the regular tweeting schedule he had when he used the @pryor2two account. Maybe he’s just shy?

I will now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. Fall camp’s coming!

TP’s California Trip Confirmed

A couple of weeks ago I posted the following on Twitter re: a possible trip to Santa Barbara, California by Terrelle for the Steve Clarkson Dreammaker Tour finale event:

TP may have been in Santa Barbara, CA this weekend. Maybe for the Steve Clarkson Dreammaker Natl Championship & season finale QB event?less than a minute ago via HootSuite

At the time, I couldn’t find any press or confirmation on the trip. That status didn’t change until yesterday, where TP was mentioned in an article detailing an Oklahoma youth’s participation in the Steve Clarkson event.

The quarterbacks also received instructions from Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor and Southern California quarterback Matt Barkley, alums of Clarkson’s program.

Nice of TP to take time out of his schedule to help out with the event, which is being turned into a web reality series. He was a participant in the 2008 Clarkson “Super 7″ QB retreat. And if you missed it, portions of that camp, including a TP sighting, appeared on Snoop Dogg’s now-defunct E! reality show, Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood.

Phil Steele’s All-Big Ten Picks + Spring Game Gallery

I finally got around to uploading my Spring Game pictures. Like I said before, I didn’t realize that I hadn’t taken pics of TP (on the field) until I saw he was done for the day. Oops. I got him on the sideline.

And that leads me to my new camera. It has a nice zoom. I was in the C-deck on the visitor side of the field. Below is one of my shots, with just a little bit of zoom. You can see how how far away I was:

Zoomed out view at the Spring Game

And here is one of my zoomed in pics of TP on the opposite sideline:

Chris Fields, TP, and Tress

Not bad, huh? View the full gallery here. Regular appearances from Brew Crew members.

Read on for news on Phil Steele’s Preseason All-Big Ten selections. Wait! There’s more »

Quick News: Phil Steele Preseason Lists + Scholar-Athlete Awards

As I posted on Twitter, Phil Steele has released his 2010 Preseason All-American Teams and to my surprise (I’m pretty sure I’m not alone there) TP was Steele’s selection for 1st All-American QB. (The linked list is from the Big East conference, but the National All-America lists is included) Pretty big honor considering all the other QBs out there in College Football. Now that Tebow, Bradford, and McCoy have moved on to the NFL, Terrelle probably is the biggest name out there. Is that enough to garner a preseason All-American honor? Who knows! But it’s still nice to see TP’s name next to the best in the country! [Side note: is this the cover image for the National Magazine?]

Terrelle attended OSU’s Scholar-Athlete dinner on Wednesday. TP has said many times that he feels that it’s very important that he maintain a high GPA to show how seriously he takes his role as a team leader. He wants his teammates to follow his lead and excel in the classroom as well. So, naturally he should be proud that the football team had more student athletes on hand than any other sport with 44. TP had the following to say to Ohio State student newspaper, The Lantern:

“Our goal is always to be 3.0 students. Every time we have more teammates who get that GPA, it’s a huge accomplishment. I’ve really matured. I’m growing up and it’s all about being a man. I have to have a schedule to succeed and go by that plan. Once you mature as a person it shows on the field as well as in the classroom.”

TP also shared that he hopes to be Academic All-American this summer.

Well done, Terrelle. Well done.

Terrelle to Work Out with Vick This Summer

The DailyPress is reporting that TP will work out with Michael Vick and Virginia Tech QB Tyrod Taylor this summer.

Vick, who is entering his second season with the Philadelphia Eagles, said Friday he plans to meet this summer with [Tyrod] Taylor and Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor for a serious football skull session.

We’re supposed to work out this summer along with Terrelle Pryor from Ohio State and try to prepare them for the next level.”

Knowing how much TP looks up to Vick (even if he didn’t explain it very well last year), you know he’ll take full advantage of his time working with him.

Excuse the Crazy; Having Technical Difficulties

And by technical difficulties, I mean my hosting company done messed things up. Went to bed Tuesday and everything was perfect. Then something, they still haven’t told me about, happened and the site was down for most of the day.

Now, it’s back, but they seem to have restored a backup from February. I hope that doesn’t mean all my posts from Feb. through now are lost forever, because that’ll only make me more salty than I already am.

So, I’m going to try and track down some answers. Sorry about everything, TP fans!

Quick News: Spring Game Draft + 2010 Schedule

  • Not that this should come as any surprise, but TP was the 1st pick in the annual Spring Game draft, for the second year in a row. And I’m pretty sure he’ll be done playing at halftime; just like last year ;)
  • As already noted, the game will have a strong Breast Cancer awareness theme to it. The players’ jersey numbers will be pink.
  • The Buckeyes will play 3 night games during the 2010 season: Marshall (7:30 on September 2), Wisconsin (7:15 on Oct. 16), and Minnesota (8:00 on Oct. 30). The Miami game has a 3:40 start

Linkage: Terrelle Meets with the Media

Whole lotta coverage from TP’s post-practice session with the media. Judging from some of the video/stories, he seems much more comfortable in front of cameras and with his leadership role on the team.

My favorite TP quote from today?

“I’m very excited, and if I was a Buckeye fan I would be too.”

That’s what I’m talkin’ about!

Jersey scrimmage is tomorrow. Winning unit earns the right to wear the coveted scarlet jerseys during fall practice. Defense has won the past couple scrimmages (which take place during spring and fall practice). Will the newly diversified offense end the streak? Stay tuned!
